New Town Encounter updates Kolkata: The bodies of two Punjab’s gangsters were recovered from New Town’s Sukhvrishti residence late at night. An autopsy will be done today. Meanwhile, police are still cordoning off B-153 tower. Restrictions have been imposed on entry and exit of the residence from today.
The STF of the state police conducted an operation to catch the two miscreants hiding in a five-storey flat in Sukhvrishti Awasan. Jaipal Bhullar and Yashpreet Singh Kharar, two notorious gangsters from Punjab, were killed in a bone-chilling encounter.
Jaipal Bhullar, a notorious gangster from Punjab, is hiding in Sapurji’s residence in Newtown. The Special Task Force (STF) of the state police launched a special operation on Wednesday after receiving the information from a secret source.
Police claimed that the locations of the two gangsters were locked around 12 noon on Wednesday. Then the police reikied the whole area.
The special police force cordoned off the entire area of B block of Sukhbrishti Awasan around 3.30 pm on Wednesday.
Witnesses claim that the gangsters suddenly started firing randomly from the balcony of the five-storey flat and the lobby next to it.
At first, STF officers fired back. A gunfight broke out between the two sides. Notorious Punjab gangsters Jaipal Bhullar and Yashpreet Singh Kharar were killed in the shootout.
Kartik Mohan Ghosh, an inspector of the Special Task Force, was shot in the shoulder. Although he was originally a resident of Karimpur in Nadia, he used to rent this accommodation with some of his colleagues. The officer with the rank of inspector was also involved in the operation of STF on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the two deceased were wanted by the Punjab police in more than 40 cases of notorious gangsters. Five sophisticated automatic pistols, 89 rounds of ammunition and Rs 7 lakh cash were recovered from the spot.
Residents of the residence panicked over the whole incident. Police recovered the bodies of the two gangsters after 1pm.
According to police sources, Jaipal and Yashpreet came to Kolkata from Punjab through a businessman named Bharat Kumar who was arrested in Ludhiana.
From May 23, he rented a flat at Sapurji Awas in Newtown through an agency. Investigators said police had already found the owner of the flat.
The man, a resident of CIT Road, is an interior designer by profession. 10000 monthly rent was agreed for 11 months, said the brother of the flat owner.
On the other hand, the international drug-smuggling ring has also joined the victims. According to police sources, they were smuggling drugs to different states of India through the Pak border.
