The body of Ranjit Das was recovered from the bus No. 37 on the Dhakuria-Howrah route at the stand on Thursday morning. It can be seen that he committed suicide by hanging himself on a mosquito net. Upon receiving the news, the police of Lake police station went to the spot. The body was sent for autopsy. Now the question is why the bus driver committed suicide? Other bus workers at the stand said he had taken the extreme step out of frustration. He has been worried for the last two months that the bus has not been on the road for a long time due to the lockdown. He used to say again and again, the family is not going to be dragged.
Tapan Bandyopadhyay, an official of the Joint Council of Bus Syndicates, alleged that Ranjit Das had not yet received the money for the private buses rented by the commission during the election. That thought made him even more frustrated. Even the owner did not pay the arrears.
