Kolkata Traffic Police : Proposed 3 Bridges To Avoid Traffic Jams In The City
Kolkata Traffic Police Has proposed to build 3 new bridges to reduce traffic congestion and keep the speed of vehicles in the city normal. Two of the proposed three bridges are over the North Kolkata Circular Canal. The other is at Naskarpara near the Ruby junction of the southern EM bypass. According to sources, DC (Traffic) Arijit Singh has recently submitted a written proposal to the KMDA on behalf of the Kolkata Traffic Police to build the three bridges. KMDA has started thinking about that.
Traffic congestion has increased at RG Kar Bridge, Chitpur Bridge and Lockgate Bridge for the reconstruction of Tala Bridge. Train passengers have to reach Kolkata station by crossing the five-lane turn of Shyambazar and RG Kar Road. Since there is no Tala bridge, most of the vehicles in the northern suburbs use the RG tax bridge. As there is RG Kar Hospital next to the bridge, many people cross the road there. As a result, the speed of the car is stopped. So the police have proposed to build a new bridge over the circular canal south of the RG tax bridge. The bridge will be able to run between Canal West Road and Raicharan Sadhukhan Road between Kolkata station. And if the traffic pressure on the G-tax bridge is reduced, the traffic congestion will also be reduced.

Kolkata Traffic Police has proposed to build a bridge over the circular canal towards the Ganges parallel to the Chitpur bridge. At present, heavy goods vehicles coming from Rabindra Sarani have to catch Kashipur Road through the railway crossing next to Chitpur Bridge. As a result, normal movement of vehicles was disrupted at Kshirodprasad Vidyabinod Avenue, Kashipur Road and Lockgate flyover. Therefore, it has been said in the proposal that the bridge will start from Bagbazar Mother Ghat and end across the canal. If the new bridge is built west of Chitpur Bridge, i.e. towards the Ganges, goods vehicles will be able to reach Kashipur without any hindrance.
There is a culvert above the canal near Naskarpara crossing of the bypass. That is why that part of the bypass has become narrow. The speed of the northbound vehicle is getting obstructed. According to Lalbazar, the traffic police sent a proposal on Wednesday to build a bridge over the canal.
